Where to Play Golf in Barbados
For some, holiday relaxation means tucking into a good book with a tropical sunset backdrop. Others require a little more activity, like teeing off on a designer course while breathing in the fresh sea air outside. For those of you who fall into the latter category and are heading out to the Caribbean island of Barbados for a little R&R, be sure to check out these golf courses:
Royal Westmoreland Golf Course
This golf course, situated in the luxurious Royal Westmoreland estate, not only offers a bit of a challenge on the course, but also breathtaking oceanic views from every hole. Royal Westmoreland is the Barbadian golf course of choice for many travellers for its beautiful and well-maintained course and interesting par threes.
Apes Hill
One of the youngest golf courses in Barbados, this course holds its own amongst the established old-world courses found on the island. Built in central Barbados atop a sugar plantation, this course offers interestingly landscaped holes of coral stone quarries and lush vegetation, as well as superb panoramic views from the raised holes.
The Country Club (Sandy Lane)
One of three courses situated in the exclusive Sandy Lane Golf Resort, Sandy Lane’s Country Club was designed by Tom Fazio and was built on a hill around the course’s clubhouse. For this reason, as well as its well-maintained grounds and complementary layout, it offers incredible views of the island and the ocean. A popular destination for local and visiting golfers, this golf course is a must-see and must-play.
